January Session Highlights

This highlight for Tower Tidings is written to update the congregation on the work of the Session of First Presbyterian Church. This summary will include information from the last Session meeting on December 3, 2025 and reminders of how to communicate with the ruling elders who are elected by our congregation.
The November and December monthly Session meetings were combined into one meeting, held on December 3. During that time together, elders heard reports from the various coordinating teams with updates on the ministries completed by each. We learned about new leadership at People to People Ministries: Sean Murphy. Rental agreements are pending with two non-profit organizations who would like to utilize space that is available in the lower level of our church building. More information will be shared with the congregation when those agreements are finalized. Session will have knowledge of the mission of each of the organizations who will occupy our facilities and will have final approval of the rental agreements. The small group tasked with this new ministry area has been working hard and Session is grateful for their diligence and communication.
Session has been gathering outside of the monthly meeting schedule to learn about how to adapt to the changing needs of our congregation and how to create a vision for our future together. Several meetings have included consultation with the executive Presbyter of Muskingum Valley Presbytery. In the next few weeks, please look for invitations to attend scheduled small group discussions where your needs and ideas will be welcomed. These times of conversation are necessary as we continue to worship and do God’s work together.
Members of Session will continue to meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Please reach out to any of the Elders listed above with any questions or concerns. Positive feedback is also welcomed as this team is working diligently to listen, discern, and communicate successfully.
