Earth Care Update - Recycling

February 15, 2026
Greetings from the Earth Care Team

The City of Wooster Waste & Recycling Provider, Kimble, encourages all to have a "Greener & Cleaner" world.  Recycling is able to reduce pollution and trash and save natural resources.

Kimble reports that weekly they process:
*2 million pounds of recycled goods including,
*1 million cans
*3 million water bottles
*9 million pounds of paper

The City of Wooster has monthly averages of:
*52 Tons of Paper
*3 Tons of Plastic
*18 Tons of Glass

Kimble requests the following from us to help ensure a smooth stream:
-Please no trash or plastic bags
-If in doubt (to recycle), throw it out
-Empty all fluids
-No styrofoam
-No pizza boxes

Plastic bags are accepted at Walmart, Meijers, Buehler's, Dick's Sporting Goods.

Staples is now accepting many (40+) tech items for recycling including adapters, chargers, flash drives, keyboards, routers, speakers & stereos and school supplies.  Staples recycles all batteries and Lowe's recycles LED light bulbs.

The City of Wooster is having Electronics Recycling Day on Saturday, April 18th from 9:00am - 12pm on CoW Campus.  Additional information will be available at that time.
