Session Update - October 2026

Session has been hard at work with Rev. Michael Parker as Moderator since Rev. David Rice’s retirement August 31. Rev. Parker has been in contact with church staff at weekly staff meetings, is available for consultation when needed and has been attending meetings of coordinating teams.
 
Reports from each of the coordinating teams are included in information that is shared with Session members prior to each meeting. Discussion and motion approvals as needed are part of the actual Session meetings. Financial information is reviewed monthly with a verbal report from RDM with discussion encouraged. Updates from Pastor Nominating Committee, Director of Family Ministry (Amy Baxstrom) and GAP (Session appointed team to arrange pulpit supply and pastoral care resources for the congregation) are also provided.
 
At the October meeting, Rev. Parker talked with elders about their role as Presbyters: “ruling elders who are chosen by the congregation to discern and guide in its fidelity to the Word of the Lord. . “(PC(USA):Book of Order). He also guided discussion around framework for thinking about church community and mission, asking elders to think about what is at the center of our church. This discussion will continue at the next meeting which is scheduled for DECEMBER 2, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. (Session will NOT meet on November 25, Thanksgiving Eve).
