Instead of the usual dry season of summer that comes in August in Ohio, FPC Wooster experienced an overabundance of water in places where hydration was not necessary: Bruch Hall, the Gathering Area, the steps and the Lower Level below those areas. As you know, immediate remediation of the water leak was completed to prevent mold growth and to repair the faulty water line. A claim was filed with the church’s insurance company and replacement of the carpeting in those area was recommended, with funds provided to make that happen. A small “flooring crew” from the congregation was formed to contact retailers, listen to recommendations and choose replacement product. All of those tasks were completed, the carpet was ordered and now it is time for the installation phase of the remediation project.
Carpet will be replaced in Bruch Hall (beginning November 10) and then installation will move next to the Gathering Area, stairs, and hallway areas leading to the Library and the Parlor/Nursery. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, the carpeting in the Parlor will also be replaced and will match the new floor coverings elsewhere. Carpeting in the lower level (Classroom 1, 2, 3, gathering space and hallways) will be replaced in December when the Montessori School program is not in session (beginning December 21).
The church building is a busy place! The staff is keeping tabs on the building’s busy schedule and will communicate to groups who may be impacted by this project. Thank you for patience and understanding as we move through the process of flooring replacement.
