New elders Kim Ogle and Acadia Webb completed orientation prior to this month’s meeting. Ordination for some elders took place on July 26. Other new elders will complete orientation prior to the August Session meeting and an additional date for ordination will be scheduled in August.
 
An omnibus motion was approved during the July meeting of Session. This motion included communion dates, special offerings and approval of Dana Brooks as Treasurer and Lisa Rumbaugh as Clerk of Session. Elders also approved the rescheduling of September 2026 communion to August 30, so that David can preside over communion on his final service at FPC. Session was reminded that a celebration for David and Karolyn Rice will be held in Bruch Hall on August 29 from 3-5 p.m. Elders honored the life and love shared by Judy Werely, who passed away on July 14, 2026.
 
Updates from coordinating teams were heard. Faith and Worship is working on a Worship Planning Form that will help to coordinate all of the elements of our worship time in order to make sure all of the many parts are ready for each Sunday. A group from Session (Tammy Brooks, Mark Gooch, Becky Webb and Lisa Rumbaugh) have been contacting and meeting with pastors who may be interested in joining us at FPC during the time following David’s retirement until an installed pastor, head of staff is called. A report from that team was presented to the congregation during the service on August 2.
 
The Personnel committee continues to meet with staff to support them during the pastoral transition. This group is also working to prepare for Tim Hall’s retirement on December 31, 2026.
