FPC and Montessori Partnership Update

We recently held a productive meeting with the Montessori program to discuss the shared use of the Youth Center spaces and ensure our visions for the partnership are aligned. The conversation was positive and collaborative, and both groups left feeling confident that the space will be respected and used to support and enrich the lives of youth in our community.

Most spaces will remain largely unchanged. The Youth Center will continue serving as a collaborative gathering space for students, with only minor additions such as lockers and tables. Youth activities and resources will remain in place, and designated storage areas for FPC materials will be maintained. The Junior High Room will continue to function as a classroom space with a few added tables for shared use.

Some rooms will have more specialized purposes. One breakout room in the Youth Center will serve as Montessori storage, while the former game room space in breakout room 2 will be moved across the courtyard and become a shared recreation area for both Montessori and FPC youth. Rachel’s Bell Room will become a dedicated Montessori science and robotics classroom. Adult Classroom 1 remains open for future discussion as program needs evolve.

The courtyard will serve as an outdoor classroom and lunch area, and hallway bulletin boards will be shared so both organizations can highlight activities and opportunities for youth.

We are excited about this partnership and the opportunity to continue using the Youth Center as it was intended: as a welcoming, shared space for the community. Just as the space has been shared in the past with Wee Care, Boy Scouts, 12-step groups, and others, we look forward to this new collaboration with Montessori.
