April Session Highlights

 The monthly Session meeting included reports from each of the coordinating teams, highlighting upcoming events including the Annual Congregational meeting on May 3, following a potluck lunch (after 10:30 worship service. Elders and Deacons will be elected that day and a report about church finances will be presented. Personnel reported that annual staff reviews will be completed by May 11, 2026  with ongoing support for the staff during this transition period. RDM reported that income exceeded expenses in March, due in part to a deposit of $70,000 from the closure of the accounts of Wee Care. $50,000 of this amount was added to the investment account for FPC, with the remainder being deposited into the church’s checking account.  A report on the lower level rental agreement was discussed. Several open houses have been held at FPC by Montessori Schools, welcoming potential students to their new high school programming. Questions were asked about sharing space in the youth area between this new program/rental and Sunday youth times. Communication between both parties will continue to be a priority as this new program begins. Faith and Structure reported that several roof repairs have been completed recently. F&S stated appreciation for all who assisted on the workday on April 11. 

Rev. Rice shared excitement about the Rooted and Reaching class that has met one time (two other dates scheduled) and was well attended by current members and those who have questions about our church. He also talked about the new chaplain who will be coming to the College of Wooster: Travis Webster. Travis and his wife, Karen, are both PC(USA) pastors who will be relocating to Wooster. They currently run a not for profit organization “Healthy Seminarians Healthy Churches” and are interested in transferring that business from Pennsylvania to Ohio.
