Session Highlights
January 2026

The Session of First Presbyterian Church Wooster met on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Session heard information from the Clerk of Session, including changes to the membership rolls (one baptism, one transfer and two terminations), report from the meeting of the Chairs of the Coordinating Teams and updates from recent meetings of Muskingum Valley Presbytery. Motions to set the date of the Annual Congregational Meeting (5.3.2026 in Bruch Hall), approve the Annual Statistical report submitted to Presbytery and to approve two baptisms on March 8, 2026 were approved. Session heard the end of the year financial report from RDM, discussed the stewardship campaign from last fall and talked about the total financial picture of our church. Rental income from the lower level of the church is expected to help the financial profile of the church during 2026 and beyond. Many thanks to the teams that have worked hard to help make this rental income a reality (Faith and Structure team and RDM). Session celebrated the official certification of Amy Baxstrom as a Certified Christian Educator (the only one in Muskingum Valley Presbytery)! The Faith and Practice coordinating team will begin a project focusing on assembling baby kits to be shared in Honduras through the CAMO program. Many thanks to Nancy Young and Susie Slack for their commitments to co-chair the Faith and Worship coordinating team over the past several years. April Gamble has agreed to work to coordinate the efforts of this important team. We continue to thank the work of the Faith and Structure team (Tim Hall!) for the successful results from a recent fire inspection and the critical repairs to the coffee maker in the kitchen. Many thanks to Women’s Fellowship who helped to finance the cost of that crucial repair!

Members of Session have been facilitating Congregational Discussions on a variety of dates and through many types of forums, in an effort to encourage community as we envision our church in the future. This type of work will help us prioritize the needs of our church as we look for a pastor with the depth of experience and energy to lead us to that future. Thank you for your responses, either in person, in writing or on line. Look forward to a summary report of your responses in early March 2026.

Please contact any Session member (names and contact information is available in the Church Office) or Lisa Rumbaugh, Clerk of Session (sessionclerk@firstpreswooster.org) if you have questions or would like to have a conversation. Minutes from Session meetings are available for viewing in the Gathering Area.
