This year marks the 20th anniversary of Charles Cureton’s service to the congregation of First Presbyterian as Parish Associate. On Sunday, July 11 come celebrate Charles and all he has given us through his ministry, his teaching, his counsel, his prayers.
After the service on July 11, a cookies and lemonade and card-signing reception will be set up in the Gathering Area. Charles’s health may not permit him to be present with us on the 11th, but if not, he will be watching the service and our activities on Zoom and we can smile and wave and show him our grateful hearts.
As a wonderful gift to Charles, and to our congregation, several months ago Tom and DeDe Gregory offered to publish a book of Charles’s Prayers of the People---something this congregation has been asking Charles to do for most of the last twenty years. Tom worked with Charles to select prayers for the book then Tom and DeDe rolled up their sleeves and began the arduous process of compiling the prayers into book form, editing it, and getting it published. Because of the Gregory’s generosity, we will have copies of Prayers by Charles Cureton available in the Gathering Area on the 11th. The Gregory’s have asked only that a free will donation be made for a book where people are able and Charles has asked that any money received be used for the church. After July 11th, the books will be available in the church office.
Charles has been a blessing to this church for twenty years. Having a book of his prayers at our fingertips is blessing upon blessing. Come help us celebrate Charles on July 11!« Back to Blog
