A Message from David Rice
In response to the ongoing health crisis, the Session of First Presbyterian Church has suspended our corporate Sunday morning worship and Sunday school for the month of June. All face-to-face church meetings also continue to be suspended as well as community group meetings. As mandated by the Governor's office, Wee Care will be re-opening on June 1.
Through the process of making these decisions, good and thoughtful suggestions have been offered as to how we can maintain our care for and connection with one another and engage our community to meet the needs that will arise in the weeks to come. I invite you not only to offer your own ideas but also commit your time and energy to continuing the mission and ministry of FPC in creative ways: engaging our children and youth; addressing loneliness; providing meals and bag lunches; grocery shopping; sharing new worship experiences. We will stay in touch through phone, email, website, and our Facebook page.
We are addressing our corporate responsibilities to stem the progression of this pandemic, and we also must take responsibility for our personal health and the health of those around us. Best practices include hand-washing, maintaining physical distance, and staying home if one is not feeling well. More detailed information can be found on multiple websites and especially from the Centers for Disease Control.
These are uncertain and anxious times. As a community of faith, let us remember that we are embraced in the steadfast love of God forever, that we are redeemed in the grace of Jesus Christ now and always, and that together we are being empowered by Holy Spirit for faithful witness and loving service this and every day of our lives. And in the days to come, may the hope, peace, joy, and love of God abide with and strengthen each and every one of us.
Blessings and Peace,
